About Brisbane Food Guide

Brisbane deserves a better food record.

Brisbane Food Guide is an independent food publication and restaurant discovery guide, edited locally in Brisbane. We help readers find somewhere to eat and meet the people behind the food.

Our work brings together practical venue guides, original interviews, photography and reporting from Brisbane and South East Queensland. The details matter: what to order, who a place suits and the story behind it.

Independent local guide / Brisbane, Queensland / Built before 2032

Quality gets buried when the internet gets noisy.

People should be able to understand a restaurant before they book: what it serves, where it sits in the city, who it suits, what it is known for, and whether the information is based on a visit, public research, venue details, or a paid arrangement.

Brisbane Food Guide exists to make that record clearer.

What we believe

A city tastes like its people.

Brisbane food is built by migration, memory, risk, repetition, family labour, suppliers, chefs, floor staff, producers, and neighbourhood regulars.

The city does not eat in one postcode. It eats through suburbs, side streets, shopping strips, riverfront rooms, markets, kitchens, cafes, late-night counters, and family restaurants that rarely get enough attention.

We document this work from Brisbane, Meanjin, while the city is still becoming what it will be.

Built before 2032

The world is coming. The local record should be ready.

Brisbane will keep changing before 2032. Visitors will ask where to eat, locals will keep searching for better answers, and restaurants will need clearer digital records than scattered posts, old menus, and noisy online aggregates.

This guide is being built early, one venue, suburb, cuisine, and story at a time.

How the guide works

We separate discovery, editorial judgement, paid work, and factual updates.

Brisbane Food Guide includes restaurants in several ways. Some venues are visited. Some are listed using public information, venue details, and local research. Some have a labelled paid arrangement, such as a sponsored BFG Partner profile. Some are tracked because they are relevant to a suburb, cuisine, opening cycle, or dining moment.

For public-data profiles, we prefer official venue pages, booking pages, published menus, direct venue channels, and venue-supplied factual corrections. We do not copy public reviews, scrape rating platforms, or present public research as a first-hand visit.

The goal is clarity. Readers should know what kind of page they are reading, and restaurants should have a fair way to correct factual information.

Local knowledge, wider discovery

Brisbane stories. Ready to be discovered.

Every great food discovery starts with something local: a conversation with an owner, a memorable meal, or a place worth sharing. As an independent Brisbane food publication, we bring those experiences together through original reporting, photography and the voices of the people behind the food.

We make that local knowledge easy to explore, whether you find us through a friend, a search engine or an AI assistant. Clear venue details, source links and checked dates help search and AI systems understand our coverage and connect it with the questions people ask about eating in Brisbane.

Our strength is the context behind the recommendation: the people, neighbourhoods, cuisines and occasions that make each place matter. By sharing what we have experienced, explaining how we research and keeping a clear path for corrections, we aim to be a useful local source wherever your next food discovery begins.

What we look for

Practical diner usefulness comes first.

When building guides, Top Lists, suburb pages, and restaurant profiles, we consider cuisine, suburb, menu fit, atmosphere, price, consistency, public reputation signals, local relevance, booking usefulness, visit status, venue details, and whether the restaurant adds something meaningful to its category or neighbourhood.

Not every listed venue is an endorsement. Some are included for discovery, context, or future coverage.

Visit and disclosure labels

Clear labels for the record.

Visited

First-hand notes from a real visit.

On Radar

Tracked through public information, local research, or community signals.

Listed

Basic venue information included for discovery.

Independent Listing

A standard venue page without a paid arrangement; may draw on official information, local research, and labelled visits where relevant.

Source URLs Filed

Public source links are kept with venue records where available so factual details can be checked and refreshed.

Claim / Verify

A venue-owner pathway for verifying factual details; it does not buy editorial order or recommendation.

Venue Supplied Info

Details, descriptions, or imagery supplied by the venue.

Hosted Visit

A visit where food, drinks, access, or hospitality was provided.

BFG Partner

Sponsored Profile: the venue pays for its own profile. It does not change guides, lists, maps or search order.

Paid Partnership / Sponsored

A labelled paid promotion or campaign placement, such as a sponsored video on our social channels.

Founder Story

Chosen by the editor. Founder stories are never paid.

Independent Pick

Selected editorially, never purchased.

Disclosure

Paid is labelled. Picks and stories are not sold.

Paid work for venues helps fund the guide: Venue Checks, sponsored BFG Partner profiles, labelled paid promotions and content shoots. That money supports our independent visits, photography and reporting.

Never for sale: founder stories, places in best-of guides and Top Lists, order in lists, maps and search results, and editorial verdicts. If we independently cover a current paying client, we disclose that relationship.

Hosted visits, sponsored profiles and paid promotions are labelled on the content they concern.

We prioritise original and venue-supplied photography. When usable, permissioned photography is not yet available, we may use AI-assisted editorial imagery as a temporary illustration. It is not presented as a photograph of that venue, dish, or person, and we replace it as original or venue-approved photography becomes available.

Corrections

Information can be corrected.

Restaurant owners, readers, and staff can request corrections to factual details including opening hours, address, ownership, cuisine category, menu notes, booking links, image credits, or closure status.

Owners and operators can also claim or verify a listing by sending official source URLs and proof of connection to the venue. Claiming a listing helps factual accuracy; it does not buy editorial order.

We assess correction requests and update pages when information is verified. Editorial inclusion and independent judgement sit apart from factual corrections.

What we do not do

The line stays clear.

We do not sell editorial rankings or founder stories.

We do not publish public scores, star ratings, or takedown reviews.

We do not pretend public research is a first-hand visit.

We do not hide paid, hosted, partner, commercial, or sponsored relationships.

We do not guarantee placement in search engines, maps, or AI answers.

We do not reduce restaurants to ratings instead of context.
